CME Programs
We want to encourage our medical staff to remain informed about all clinical topics that affect their patients and their practice. Though we cannot plan educational activities to cover all medical knowledge, we want to offer this activity to you, our medical staff, and encourage you to research your clinical questions whether you need to review a condition or confirm a treatment strategy.
Our objectives for this activity are to:
- Identify clinical questions
- Enhance research skills
- Apply learnings to clinical practice
- Improve patient care by utilizing current evidence
We have identified eight online databases that offer professional, peer-reviewed, evidence-based literature and encourage you to use these sources. You may use other sources, but not all sources are approved for POC credit, so please use multiple sources.
Approved online databases:
- AHRQ (Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality Clinical Guidelines and Evidence Reports)
- DynaMed
- EMedicine Specialties
- MDConsult
- Medscape
- NGC (National Guideline Clearinghouse)
- PubMed / Medline (redirects to NCBI site)
- USPSTF (US Preventive Services Task Force)
Upon completing your search, you must submit the Online Verification Form within 7 days of your initial search. Required fields are designated by an asterisk (*). Each approved POC search will result in .5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credits™, and these credits will be added to your TMCP transcript. If you need a copy of your transcript, contact Marla Bradberry at (972) 519-1573. Transcripts will also be provided at the end of each calendar year.
The Medical Center of Plano is accredited by the Texas Medical Association to provide continuing education for physicians. Physicians conducting structured online searches on clinical topics may claim a half (.5) AMA PRA Category 1 Credit™ for documented completion of the three-step learning cycle1. A maximum of 20 credits will be awarded for this activity per participant, per year.
